Our Peterborough FordStore was lucky enough to host the Ford Explorer for two days over the 13th and 14th December. We opened our doors for people to come and view, get a feel for and even sit inside the new car, getting a hands on experience of the dashboard and screen controls. Our friendly showroom staff were on standby to answer any questions about the vehicle they may have had, along with expert knowledge thanks to one of Ford’s own product specialists - focussing on all things Explorer.
Upon first glance at the brand-new Ford Explorer, you can immediately take note of its aerodynamically designed exterior, embodying the essence and confident style of Ford's iconic American SUV which it is named after. As it ventures into the electric era, a distinctive feature is a striking "shield" design on the front, a bold departure from the conventional grille seen on its combustion engine predecessors. Shining brightly under the ceiling lights, the car we had at our dealership was in the colour Rapid Red.
Inside the cabin, it's got everything you could ever want thanks to the wealth of technology onboard the Explorer. In the middle of the dashboard sits the SYNC Move connected infotainment system which presents a movable 14.6-inch screen, featuring seamlessly integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard features. Additionally, the Ford All-Electric Explorer is equipped with a wireless smartphone charger, so gone are the days of tangled phone wires interfering with your driving experience.
From its spacious interior to its large space, fast-charging capabilities, and intelligent features, this electric SUV represents a practical and forward-thinking option for those seeking a reliable and environmentally friendly vehicle.
As an all-electric vehicle, the Explorer contributes to environmental sustainability by producing zero tailpipe emissions. This practical design aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options, making it an attractive choice for environmentally conscious consumers.Another thing that stands out is the lack of gearstick or gear controls in the usual place, instead being replaced by a control paddle behind the right side of the steering wheel. This makes changing from park to drive and other driving modes seamless and convenient for the driver. The Explorer also has the technology to allow for Lane Change Assist when the optional Driver Assistance Pack is selected, adding to your overall experience of driving this car.
Ford understands the tasks everyone faces in modern life, from the school run and rushing to make work meetings, to family holidays and weekend adventuring - the Explorer has more than enough storage facilities to get you by. The 17-litre middle storage compartment in between the two front seats, known as the MegaConsole, can be adapted to fit larger items such as laptops, drinks bottles and bags, meaning you no longer have to put them on your passenger seat. The 450-litre space in the large boot allows the Explorer to be the perfect partner for transporting suitcases, tents, sports equipment, shopping bags, and just about anything in between.
The larger 14.6-inch touchscreen provides better visibility for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle control. This increased size makes it easier for both the driver and passengers to view and interact with the display, reducing the need for intricate button controls.
The movable touchscreen adds another layer of customisation to the driving experience. The ability to adjust the screen's position allows drivers and passengers to find the most comfortable and convenient viewing angle, catering to individual preferences and needs.
