New 2018 facelift Ford Mustang set to offer sleeker design, more tech and improved performance!

Ford has partnered with ambassador Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Ford has partnered with ambassador Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, to introduce a new 2018 facelift Ford Mustang with a new more muscular look, a power boost and new advanced technology!

Here's what we know so far...

New 2018 Ford Mustang with a sleeker design...

As you'd expect from a mid-life facelift (we said facelift not crisis!), the visual changes are minimal and the design retains the familiar characteristics of the current Ford Mustang - that we all know and love.

These tweaks may be minor but they are certainly noticeable. Overall, the car’s exterior design is now more athletic. The 2018 model year Ford Mustang GT gets a revised front-end, sporting a new angular front bumper, a new chin spoiler and a slimmer lower air intake, flanked by two new triangular air intakes. In addition, the bonnet sits a little lower, creating an overall sleeker front fascia.

The headlights have also been tweaked. The new LED-lights are a similar shape, but slimmer and with distinctive new indicators. New thin, rectangular fog lamp clusters also sit in the new front bumper.

Round the back there's a new rear bumper too. Revised LED tail lamps give a more technical look and there's a redesigned rear spoiler and fascia. A dual-tip exhaust is standard for the 2.3 EcoBoost Ford Mustang, while the V8-powered Ford Mustang GT gets a standard quad-tip exhaust.

There's also more ways to make the 2018 Ford Mustang your own, with 12 different wheel options and new colours - including the vibrant Orange Fury shown in the above imagery.

In the cabin the Mustang’s interior remains similar with the exception of improved touch points and visual cues and a more premium look and feel. The centre console benefits from new hand-stitched edging, while door handles, rings and bezels are finished in aluminium. Restyled seating surfaces feature new patterns and colour choices. A heated steering wheel is optional but the biggest change is in the infotainment department.

The new optional 12” LCD instrument cluster is the first all-digital display ever offered in a Ford Mustang. This means you’re in absolute control of everything you see in front of you... Customise colours, choose your gauge layout. It’s easy to view, it’s fast, it’s responsive and like everything else in the 2108 Ford Mustang, it's absolutely beautiful.

New 2018 Ford Mustang with more advanced technology...

All-new 'Mustang MyMode' with memory function allows customers to save their favourite drive settings, including suspension and steering preferences.

For the first time, the 2018 Ford Mustang also benefits from a vast array of Ford driver-assist technologies. Customers can feel more confident than ever behind the wheel with new features like Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, distance alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and Driver Alert System.

Ford SYNC Connect with FordPass™ is also available on the Mustang for the first time. When using the FordPass® app for smartphones, drivers can start, lock, unlock and locate their car for ultimate convenience.

New 2018 Ford Mustang with improved performance...

The car is still unmistakably 'Mustang' and not just in the way that it looks. It’s the way it feels when you wrap your hand around the wheel, the power, the rush.

Performance is at the core of the Ford Mustang's DNA. All new 2018 Mustang models will offer a unique thrill of acceleration and cornering for the ultimate fun-to-drive experience. New suspension and shock absorbers give better ride control and increased lateral stiffness, and innovative stabiliser bars bring sharper responsiveness and handling.

In terms of engines Ford will continue to offer the facelift Ford Mustang with two power units in the UK – the 5.0-litre V8 in the GT and the 2.3-litre four-cylinder Ecoboost.

Ford hasn't confirmed the updated figures yet, but both boast improvements to torque output. Ford’s legendary 5.0-liter V8 engine has been thoroughly reworked and is set to be more powerful and will rev higher than any Ford Mustang GT before.

The gearbox line-up has changed too. The existing 6-speed manual has been tweaked for optimal torque for both models, and the V8 version gets a new dual-plate clutch. As rumoured, a new 10-speed automatic gearbox is now an option, complete with steering wheel mounted paddles.

More information about the 2018 Ford Mustang...

As with the current Mustang model, the 2018 model will only be available to order at UK FordStores, including TC Harrison Ford in Derby and TCH Peterborough. Given the 'Stang will hit the US forecourts first though, it will be early 2018 before the revised model goes on sale in UK - so don't put your current orders on hold!

Full pricing and specification details for the new 2018 Ford Mustang haven’t yet been revealed, but we'd expect a small increase with entry-level cars likely to top £32,000. Contact us now to register your interest.
