This is no ordinary Ford Fiesta. These spy shots have emerged online, indicating that this could be a test mule for a potential new Ford Fiesta RS coming in 2017. If you look closely you'll spot the altered front bodywork and large air inlets, the tacked fender flares and apparent intercooler peering out from behind the grille - all suggesting high performance.
Factor in the fact that Ford Performance Manager, Tyrone Johnson has recently stated “There's more to come from the current Fiesta," it's appearing more and more likely that the Fiesta RS will be one of Ford Performance's new vehicles that the company has promised.
We'd expect a much more aggressive look on a production Ford Fiesta RS, along with an upgraded version of the Fiesta ST's197bhp 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, potentially churning out 230-250bhp. We'd also expect a widened track, a thoroughly reworked suspension, a limited-slip differential, and perhaps some weight savings. What we're not so sure about, is if a Fiesta RS would get the big-brother Focus RS treatment and get Ford's Performance All Wheel Drive
With or without AWD, given the fun factor and how popular the current Fiesta ST has been, a hotter RS version could be a dream! With Ford promising 12 new high-performance vehicles by the year 2020, the Fiesta RS would definitely be a welcome edition to the family.
