A while ago there was some exciting news that a new Ford Focus RS Option Pack was hinted for the UK. Now confirmed as the 'Ford Focus RS Edition', pricing has been revealed and we will be getting a very limited number of units through our FordStore allocation at TCH Derby and Peterborough.
So, What's New?
Everyone knows that the new Ford Focus RS has supercar baiting power, with 350PS and a bonkers 470Nm of torque at maximum overboost, from it's revolutionary 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine... But as always Ford are never ones to rest on their laurels and have upped their game, with the introduction of the new Ford Focus RS Edition.
Key standard features of the new Focus RS Edition over the standard RS include the following:
- Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential
- Nitrous Blue exterior body colour
- Matt-black foil roof treatment
- New black cast-alloy wheels
- Blue painted Brembo branded brake callipers
- Matt-black painted door mirrors and rear spoiler
- Partial leather Recaro shell seats in ebony and blue two-tone
- Carbon fibre interior trim parts (including door grab handle and handbrake lever)
- RS Luxury Pack (including privacy glass, rear parking sensors, power-fold door mirrors, cruise control and Ford KeyFree System)
- Heated steering wheel
- Active City Stop
More Grip You Say? Yes Please!
Developed by Ford Performance, the new Ford Focus RS Edition takes the insane amount of grip of the standard Focus RS and adds a Quaife Mechanical Limited Slip Differential on its front axle, further improving the RS’ class-leading traction. Adding to the already clever AWD system on the standard car, the limited slip diff limits the engine torque delivered to a wheel that has reduced traction on the road surface, and redistributes torque to the wheel with more traction to counteract the onset of wheel spin. This activity results in more grip so that more speed can be carried through corners, with more steering response and let's face it, more 'Hoon'!
By controlling the torque delivered to each front wheel, the Focus RS Edition’s Quaife LSD enables drivers to more fully exploit the 350 PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine’s power in high performance driving situations, and seamlessly integrates with Focus RS driving technologies.
Exclusive Interior and Exterior Styling
As mentioned above, Ford hasn't forgotten the visual aesthetic of the new Ford Focus RS Edition either. A matte black roof, matte black mirror caps and matte black spoiler all add to slightly more aggressive look, when compared to the standard Focus RS. The optional 19" black cast alloy wheels are also included as standard.
Inside, the Recaro shell racing seats, get a flash of Nitrous Blue leather, again giving an instant difference to the standard Focus RS.
Availability and Pricing
Priced at £3,530 over the base RS price, the new limited Ford Focus RS Edition is available at £35,795 on the road. A production run of 500 units is planned from late October to December 2017 and allocation is extremelly limited to FordStores throughout the country which includes TC Harrison Ford in Derby and Peterborough.
