For the first time the outstanding Ford Fiesta ST is now available to order with five doors in Europe, further enhancing its practicality while refusing to compromise on performance!
We've compared the existing three door Ford Fiesta ST and the new five door version, to help you decide which is best for you. Read on...
Besides an extra pair of doors, the new five door Ford Fiesta ST looks almost identical to its existing three door sibling. Not only does it feature the same aggressive bumpers and sculpted side skirts, twin exhaust tips and body-coloured rear diffuser as standard but also a set of 17-inch alloy wheels and a large rear spoiler complete the sporty look. The interior options of both models also still feature Recaro seats and unique ST detailing.
The Ford Fiesta ST in both three and five door options, includes the 1.6 litre EcoBoost petrol engine delivering 182PS and 240Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds while maintaining 46.3mpg fuel efficiency and 141g/km CO2 emissions. The Ford performance-tuned chassis also features optimised suspension, steering, and brakes, and is supported by enhanced Torque Vectoring Control - which applies brake force to the inside front wheel when cornering to improve road holding and reduce under-steer.
There are also five colour options available for the Ford Fiesta ST in both the three and five door variants; including, Molten Orange, Race Red and Spirit Blue so you don't have to sacrifice a colour choice for practicality.
However, priced from £18,495 on the road, the new five door Fiesta ST costs £600 more than the three door version and is only available in the ST-2 and ST-3 trim from October 2016.
After reporting that a growing numbers of customers had been requesting the new Ford Fiesta ST to be available with five doors, Roelant de Waard, Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford Europe, said "The Fiesta ST with five doors makes an affordable Ford Performance driving experience accessible to an even greater number of customers". Ford also predict that the new five door Fiesta ST will account for 25 per cent of Fiesta ST sales in Europe.
It goes without saying that the new five door Fiesta ST provides easier access to the back seats for passengers and those with small children. Five doors will make every-day life that little bit easier and both options still retain the class-leading driving dynamics, but in our opinion the three door option still offers a slightly sleeker sportier look.
Whichever way you choose it though, the multi-award winning Ford Fiesta ST is still one of the hottest hatches in decades and delivers the type of driving thrills that will do wonders for your street cred.
