As smartphones and tablets these days start to let us down, forcing us to replace or update them far too often, Ford's super-tough new version of the ignition key keeps on going, even in the hands of the most demanding drivers!
The new ignition key for the Ford Transit and Ford Transit Custom vans was put to the test, alongside a current-day smartphone, to ensure it could survive the trials of the construction obstacle course! Watch the video to see how it got on for yourself.
Aesthetically, the new design looks like any other ignition key. However, the key is permanently sealed shut, ensuring it is completely waterproof. The inside of the key is specifically designed to resist typical workplace impacts, and a rechargeable internal battery is charged whenever the key is placed in the ignition. This means it can be submerged in water for 30 minutes, dropped up to 50 times onto a concrete floor, and still unlock your vehicle without any fuss!
Jonathan Allen, electrical engineering supervisor of Ford Europe, said:
"Our customers want a key which can tackle the hard knocks of construction sites and city deliveries, and keep coming back for more. While a mobile phone can sometimes let you down, Ford has ensured that Transit drivers have a key which is just as rugged as their vehicle."
In a bid to improve their technology for Ford lovers like you, Ford's new
life-proof key is the latest generation of a design which has been
developed and refined with 10 years of feedback from Ford Transit
Customers. For more information on the
