The History of Ford ST Models
The very first ST model was when Ford launched the Mondeo ST24 in 1996. This revolutionary vehicle came fully equipped with a 2.5-litre V6 engine, as well as distinctive stylings. The model was well-received and built the perfect foundation for the ST brand in the future.
Over the years, the ST brand has been finely tuned into one of the most recognisable performance trims available on conventional day-to-day vehicle sports divisions (such as Seat FR, Peugeot GTi and BMW M), thanks to enhanced powertrains and technology.
Ford ST Models
The current ST models available are the Ford Fiesta ST, the
Ford Puma ST and the
Ford Focus ST.
The Fiesta ST is the most popular ST currently available. It is a high-performance hot hatch that brings together a sleek design with a powerful engine and precision handling.The Fiesta ST has a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine capable of producing 197bhp and 320Nm of torque. The Fiesta ST is also able to sprint up to 60mph in as little as 6.3 seconds.
The Focus ST is a powerful vehicle which features distinctive exterior styling and a high-performance Ford EcoBoost 2.3-litre petrol powertrain. This means the Focus ST has an impressive 280bhp delivering 0-60mph in a lightning quick 5.7 seconds.
For those looking for a more practical yet still strikingly sporty model, the Puma ST offers more room inside than its hatchback counterparts. Whilst it is an SUV, the Puma ST can reach 60mph in 6.5 seconds with thanks to its 1.5-litre petrol engine sending power to the six-speed manual gearbox.
