Our Burton Ford dealership completed the 'Mannequin Challenge' recently and uploaded a video to social media using all the new cars in the showroom, plus the servicing bays! This went viral very quickly and off the back of it, they challenged the other TC Harrison Ford dealerships within our Group to see if they could create their own... Our Huntingdon and Spalding showrooms were quick off the mark to respond, getting all their teams on board, including the service advisors, sales teams, valeters and even our in-house maintenance guys!
For those of you that don't know, the Mannequin Challenge is a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a video is recorded, usually with a song playing in the background and the hashtag #MannequinChallenge is used for popular social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. It is believed that the random phenomenon was started by students from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida on October 26th 2016. The initial posting has inspired works by other groups of people, especially professional athletes and sports teams that have posted increasingly complex and elaborate videos.
There’s no real purpose to it other than it’s topical right now and a bit of fun and people are still enjoying seeing how teams can pull it off. We found this was a great way to see our staff pulling together and working as a team to overcome obstacles, which was out of their daily routine and pushed them out of their comfort zones.
Overall the response to the videos has been fantastic, people have commented on how much they've enjoyed watching them and how fun it was. Let us know what you think to our efforts on our Facebook page now.
