Ford announces new trail variants to the Transit and Transit custom models

Ford announces new trail variants to the Transit and Transit custom models.

Along with the new Active variants, Ford has developed the Trail Transit Vans that deliver the enhanced capability for those who work on challenging terrain.

You will be able to recognise the Ford Trail variants from a mile away with their strikingly bold Ford lettering on the imposing matte black grille. The Transit Trail and Transit Custom Trail comes with additional black bodyside moldings paired with the unique 16-inch alloy wheels to complete the rugged SUV look.

Both Trail Vans come with the intelligent mechanical limited-slip differential system (mLSD) as standard. This advanced system makes it even more comfortable when driving over challenging terrain, it reduces unnecessary wheel spin by directing power to the wheel with the most traction, therefore, making it especially easier on unpaved roads and gravel tracks.

If you want an even more seamless and smooth journey across challenging terrains or more confidence because your job takes you to the toughest of terrains the Transit Trail is available with an optional intelligent All-Wheel Drive technology. All-Wheel Drive replaces the mLSD and provides the base rear-wheel-drive configuration, and in return, you get a smooth and more confident drive.

Both Transit Trail and Transit Custom Trail are powered by Ford's sophisticated 2.0-litre Ford Ecoblue diesel engine with a choice of up to 185 PS of horsepower. However, the Transit Custom Trail is also available as a mild hybrid powertrain, this provides lower emissions and reduces/saves fuel consumption by using a 48-volt battery to and save energy that we would typically lose.

“The Active and Trail models demonstrate how versatile and capable the Transit range can be,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe. “From businesses that operate off the beaten track to families who want a vehicle as adventurous as they are, there is a Transit to suit every need.”

The rugged Ford Trail Variants were announced at the same time as the Ford Active variants which better suit the demands of both private and business users. After bringing out this versatile range there definitely is a van in the Ford range for every requirement.
