Background

Ford Focus

The Ford Focus was first introduced to the Ford family of cars in 1998. In 2021, the Ford Focus was one of the best-selling family hatchbacks in the UK.

Originally intended as a replacement for the Ford Escort, it has grown and flourished to provide an array of benefits to its owners. In offering various technologies such as wireless charging and colour LCDs, this hatchback is an innovative model. Available in a range of colours and models, it offers the perfect driving system for many people.

Peugeot first introduced their 308 models more recently than the Ford Focus in 2007. A new Peugeot 308 model is due to be unveiled in petrol, diesel and hybrid versions later in 2021. This dynamic drive incorporates many high-tech features, such as a holographic instrument panel, a heated steering wheel that offers centralised control and full parking assistance. With a range of colours and finishes available, the attractive appearance of the car offers extreme aesthetic appeal to drivers.

So, how do the Ford Focus and Peugeot 308 compare to each other?

Interior features

Both Ford and Peugeot have brought a range of spacious models to the market, offering high-tech driving solutions that are ideal for optimising your driving experience. So, what are the similarities and differences between these two cars’ interior features?

Available space

The Ford Focus is available as either a 3-door or 5-door hatchback that provides enough space for four people to sit comfortably in the car. With a boot capacity of 341-litres, it can meet high-capacity storage needs, such as luggage for long trips.

Similarly to the Ford Focus, the Peugeot 308 is a 5-door hatchback that also provides a roomy interior with enough space for four people. The Peugeot 308, however, boasts more ample boot space than the Ford, with a 408-litre boot capacity. This is even though the overall dimensions of the 308 are slightly smaller than those of the Focus.

Both of these hatchbacks have a range of innovative technology, even in their most basic models. The Ford Focus boasts features such as:

  • Ford SYNC 3 Navigation
  • 8” TFT touchscreen

The Ford Focus offers standard seating in the Focus Zetec edition but, with other models, such as the Titanium, you will benefit from manual lumbar adjust and heated front seats.

In the Peugeot 308, height-adjustable front leather seating comes as standard with the basic Active Premium model. There is also a manual lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat. If you opt for some of the higher specification models in the range, such as the Allure, the front seats are sports seats.

Exterior features

While both of these cars are highly stylish and sleek models that come with a range of standard and optional features, there are some differences between the two hatchbacks. As standard, the Ford Focus offers alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, front fog lights and electric, heated door mirrors. It is possible to buy the car in a variety of colours and finishes, such as agate black, race red and moondust silver.

Also produced in a wide and eclectic variety of colours, the 308 comes in blue, grey, black, orange, red, with many other choices available. Like the Focus, it has many attractive exterior features, including parking sensors, a radiator grille, 16" alloy wheels and halogen headlights.

Engine options and fuel consumption

Available with diesel and petrol engines, as well as in a hybrid model, with engine sizes between 1.0L and 2.0L, the Ford Focus offers a range of options to appeal to your requirements.

Fuel consumption for the hybrid engine varies between 47.4 and 69.5MPG, depending on the model and engine size, making it a compactly efficient car.
