Ford is dedicated to improving air quality and lowering levels of pollution, that’s why the Ford range includes the award-winning EcoBoost petrol and EcoBlue diesel engines that combine performance with efficiency. With the changing times, more vehicles are being produced with alternative power, and, as part of this, Ford has promised to produce affordable and capable electric vehicles.
Ford’s range of hybrid electric vehicles uses intelligent technology to help with your journey. Smart technology learns when the best time to switch from petrol to electric power is, and uses your location to do this. So, if you’re close to home, or when you’re entering a low-emission zone, it will automatically switch to electric power.
Hybrid Mondeo

Ford Mondeo Hybrid

Ford’s first ever electric vehicle, the Ford Mondeo Hybrid uses a state-of-the-art self-charging system, meaning that it doesn’t even need to be plugged in. The Hybrid combines the best of both worlds with a powerful, efficient and responsive 2.0-litre petrol engine that has been designed especially for the Mondeo Hybrid. The advanced electric motor takes over on shorter or lower speed journeys, powered by a lightweight lithium-ion battery.

To make the Mondeo Hybrid even more efficient, it include Regenerative Braking which captures up to 90% of energy that is usually lost through friction brakes, and recycles this energy to recharge the battery.

Custom PHEV

Transit Custom PHEV

The Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is due for release in 2019, and is currently in its customer trial period, being tested by Transport for London, British Gas, Metropolitan Police and others.
Although it is still in its trial period, the Transit Custom PHEV is currently the first van of its kind. It has 31 miles of pure electric power and is backed up with a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine as a range extender. The engine then helps to recharge the on-board batteries when there is a longer time between charging, but generally, it will be charged with a quick-charging plug in. The overall target range is 310 miles so there won’t be any worries about range while you’re on the move.
