Ford Unveil All-Electric Mustang Cobra Jet Should Mustang's make a spine-tingling gurgle from a V8 engine? We'd nromally say yes, but as this prototype proves, along with the gorgeous Mustang Mach-E, electric Mustang's are cut from the same cloth as the 60's classic muscle car.

This battery-powered Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is purpose-built and projected to deliver over 1,400 horsepower and over 1,100 ft.-lbs. of instant torque. Built solely to demonstrate the capabilities of an electric powertrain in one of the most demanding race environments on the planet; a standing 1/4 mile.

Ford Performance project the Electric Mustang Cobra Jet will eat up the quarter mile in the low 8 second range reaching around 170mph. For comparison, the equvilent petrol Cobra Jet will cover a 1/4 mile in the mid 8 second range, topping out at 150mph. 1-0 to the Electric Mustang then.
