Staycation success could lead to a rise in service demand

This summer has seen a rapid increase in staycations across the UK, with several families taking more than one road trip during the school holidays. For family vehicles, this is a stark contrast to pre-pandemic times when they were left on the drive at home whilst we all hopped on a plane in the search of sun-drenched beaches abroad.

Most Popular Staycation Destinations

Whether you’ve been looking for an idyllic camping spot in the Peak District or somewhere to paddle in the sea on the Dorset and Jurassic Coast, the UK offers a fantastic variety of scenic spots for any staycation.

Just a stones throw away from the TC Harrison Ford Derby showroom, the UK’s very first National Park, the Peak District, offers some of the most dramatic landscapes, valleys and moorlands. One of the worlds most renowned places for rock climbing and bouldering, the Peaks also offers a great place for hiking, cycling and stargazing just to name a few.

Another popular destination has been the South Coast, stretching from Dorset right through to Devon and Cornwall. All of which offer some of the most sought-after beaches and coastlines in the country, not to mention the fish and chips!

Finally, those looking for longer breaks made the trip across the border and into Scotland to take in the breath-taking views that the Scottish Highlands provide. Complete with castles, scenic roads, nature and wildlife, the famous North Coast 500 (Scotland’s answer to Route 66) offered the ultimate staycation for the summer of 2021.

Best Ford vehicle for a staycation

Embracing this newfound love for road trips and adventures within the UK means we’re rapidly demanding more from our car. So much so there’s been an increase in those switching from a car to a van in recent years, and an even bigger switch into an SUV styled vehicle.

If camping is your thing, then the Ford Puma is the option for you. Uncompromised in both design and drive, the Ford Puma Hybrid embodies the spirit for adventure. It tackles rough terrain with ease thanks to the SUV inspired compact crossover design and the seemingly limitless luggage capacity of 456 litres says goodbye to the days of cramming your tent into the boot by any means. Then once you’re all pitched up; the Puma truly comes into its own as beneath the boot there is a ready-made sink complete with a stop tap; perfect for washing travel pots, muddy boots, and the dog.

Taking a trek into the mountains or the previously mentioned North Coast 500? You need a car that thinks practicality and comfort, step forward the Ford Kuga. By breaking the mould with an interior that is designed by customers, you can trust the space and versatility are of the next level. Increased space at the front also translates in the back, where you’ll find heated outer seats for the very first time and a remote release function which enables the second row to be folded flat with ease.

Daring to venture into the unknown? The Ford Ranger Wildtrak is there for you. Having undergone rigorous testing on some of the most challenging terrains, you can trust the capabilities will get you to where you’re going. Whilst the Ranger Raptor goes that one step further, boasting enhanced aerodynamics, flared arches and off-road tyres which combined with the 6 driving modes, accomplishes any terrain. Even in the Baja Desert Rally.

Go all electric for your next staycation, with the world record breaking Mustang Mach-E

Yes, that’s right the recent news that the Ford Mustang Mach-E has become a world record holder for it’s journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End has people seriously considering this as a viable staycation vehicle option. And why not? Three drivers were able to complete the 840-mile route within 27 hours and spent just 45 minutes of those hours charging the Mach-E, some feat you’ve got to admit.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E delivers a maximum electric driving range of 379 miles* and utilises sophisticated design to help achieve this range. With several clever aerodynamic elements on the car, the most prominent are the adjustable cooling flaps in the front lower grille and a deliberately square rear, to keep the air engaged with the body of the car as long as possible, thus reducing drag and increasing overall range.

Staycation success could lead to a rise in service demand

All of this has lead to a rise in vehicle mileage across the past few months and we are now anticipating a busier than usual schedule for servicing and MOT at TC Harrison Ford. With this in-mind, we’re encouraging you to book your service and MOT early with us to avoid disappointment.

And right now you can take advantage of a half-price MOT when you book your Ford Scheduled Service.
