Celebrating the Mustang

The European Ford Mustang

Back in 2015, Ford released the first Mustang to be sold out of the USA since 1979. The iconic American muscle car has been envied worldwide for decades, with loads of our favourite movie stars driving Mustangs, including action films such as Gone in 60 Seconds, and even The Princess Diaries (read below to see some of our favourites). For the first time ever, it has been offered in right-hand drive so we can grace our European roads with the American beast.

The sleek and stylish machine comes in both Fastback and Convertible forms with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine or a powerful 5.0-litre V8 GT engine. In manual or automatic, it retains the popular characteristics of the original with a modern twist.

The new Ford Mustang is defined by its tough, sporty stance, making it slightly bigger than other European sports cars. Get yours from TC Harrison for sleek style and almighty power.

The Top Ten Movies with Mustangs

(According to IMDB)

10. Misery

In the 1990 film adaptation of Stephen King's Misery, a 1965 Ford Mustang plays a starring role, driven by the main character Paul Sheldon.

9. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

During the opening scene of the 1989 film, Bill and Ted are seen leaving school in a red 1986 Mustang LX convertible.

8. Escape from L.A

John Carpenter's Escape from L.A. from 1996 is pretty jam-packed with cars, but among the bunch, you can spot a 1979 Mustang Hatchback as well as 1991 Mustang GT Hatchback.

7. Trashin'

In the iconic 1986 skater film, the girls are seen in the car park with a red 1983 Mustang convertible.

6. The Lovely Bones

In the heartbreaking 2009 film adaptation of The Lovely Bones novel, Susie thinks back to the worst day that happened in her family. Her younger brother Buckley swallowed a twig and stopped breathing, so she stole her father's 1966 Mustang convertible to drive him to hospital, and saved his life.

5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

During the scene where a Corvette is driving down the freeway, it crashes into a Mustang Saleen in an apparently unscripted collision.

4. 2 Days in the Valley

As well as a Taurus and a Thunderbird, a 1983 Mustang convertible and 1994 Mustang are seen in this 1996 comedy thriller.

3. Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)

In the 2000 Nicolas Cage version of Gone in 60 Seconds, he drives a 1967 Ford Mustang that was nicknamed 'Eleanor'. In 2013, the Mustang that was used in the film sold for $1 million at auction.

2. Gone in 60 Seconds (1974)

In the original 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds, 'Eleanor' is a 1971 customised Ford Mustang, and is the only Mustang Mach 1 in history to receive a star credit in a movie. Four Mustangs were used to film the part of 'Eleanor' but only two were used for filming, and only one of these for stunt filming.

1. Bullitt

A true icon, the Mustang GT from Bullitt helped shape the car chase of modern cinema. The souped up 1968 Mustang had signature styling, in Highland Green, and helped to win the Oscar for film editing that year. The car chase from Bullitt is still one of the most famous movie car chases to this day and is, of course, one of our favourites.
