Solar Power for TC Harrison Ford

Across the group at TC Harrison’s we are committed to a greener future, from solar panel installations at a number of our Ford dealerships, to providing the JCB E-Tech range through TCH JCB. In addition, we have electric vehicle charging points across all three divisions with a continued supply of company vehicles with an electric powertrain.

The biggest impact on the environment has been the solar panels at both TC Harrison Ford Spalding and our flagship FordStore at Pride Park, Derby. These panels not only generate electricity to help power the site but have enabled us to export excess energy back to the grid. At Spalding, the panels are able to generate an annual 41,378kWh which is almost 50% of the sites overall energy consumption (49.8%). Whilst Pride Park, which has 4 times the amount of solar panels, generates a huge 171,800kWh for the site.

When combined, these 2 dealerships can generate 14.9% of TC Harrison Ford’s (7 dealerships) total energy consumption. Due to the success, a proposal has been put in place for the installation of solar panels at TCH Ford Peterborough, these panels will be 3 times the size of those at Spalding and will save an estimated 48.21t of Co2 emissions a year.

It’s not just electric vehicles and consumption that have been on the forefront of a greener future; JCB also announced they will be investing £100m, with plans to recruit up to 50 extra engineers, to deliver efficient hydrogen engines to their customers by 2023. All of which will be supported by the TC Harrison Group through the JCB division. This announcement from JCB comes as a result of a successful prototype for a backhoe loader earlier this year that was equipped with a hydrogen engine that produced no CO2 emissions, yet offered similar performance to the renowned Dieselmax engine currently used.

All of these innovations are taking not just our business, but our customers forward. So if you are looking at how you can drive forward into the future don’t hesitate to speak to our staff. There are electric powertrain options in both the new Ford Fiesta and the new Ford Focus, as well as fully-electric vehicles in the Ford Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit.
