CarGurus did some research into the most desirable used cars in the UK so far in 2018. Rather than basing their results on actual sales, they analysed search data to see which cars shoppers were searching for and researching about. They then gave this rating a ‘Desirability Score’ based on how many users were searching for every model available. Based on models with over 1,000 cars for sale, the most desirable used car is… the Ford Ranger! The Ranger scored a desirability rating of 66, far above second place’s 50 rating. In fact, there were a large number of pick-ups and SUVs in the top ten. The rating is a great way of seeing what cars shoppers desire and are curious about, even if they are effectively ‘window shopping’ as it shows which models they would buy if budget wasn’t an option.
