The ‘Tour de TCH’ Raised More than £10,000 for Charity

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in, followed, or donated to our ‘Tour de TCH’ in June.

The epic bike ride took place at the beginning of June and saw a group of TC Harrison members cycling 275 miles between 10 different TCH sites. Deputy Chairman William Harrison, his wife Claire, Joel Harrison, son of Chairman James Harrison, cycled the entire journey along with Group Financial Director Tony Coar. The fabulous four were joined by members of the senior management team along the way.

The group raised a huge £6,380 for the British Heart Foundation, which was later topped up by the TCH Group to £10,000. The total is now standing at £13,000 raised for BHF. The team presented a cheque to BHF at TC Harrison FordStore Derby on Wednesday 18th July, which was attended by Michael Flude, winner of the Hero of Derbyshire Award and Police and Crime Commissioner Award for his fundraising and support for Take Heart Derby.

The money raised by TC Harrison will go towards research into heart and circulatory conditions, including heart diseases, stroke and vascular dementia, and risk factors including diabetes. The British Hearth Foundation is a charity that is very close to TC Harrison and we have been working with the BHF team since 2015.

“We were delighted to take part in this event and raise vital funds for the BHF, which is a cause that’s very close to our hearts here at TC Harrison Group,” Mark Creed, TCH Group Health and Safety Manager said.

“The BHF is leading the fight against heart and circulatory disease in the UK, which is responsible for nearly 160,000 UK deaths each year – around one every three minutes. Through such fundraising efforts the BHF are able to fund new research, which will be central to discovering vital treatments for people living with heart and circulatory conditions.”

The TC Harrison Board would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who took part in the four-day event. The first day of the ‘Tour de TCH’ began at TCH JCB headquarters in Chapeltown and cycled past TCH Leasing before heading down to TCH JCB in Lincoln. On the second day, the team took off from Lincoln to TCH Spalding, before cycling on to TCH Peterborough. The third day set off from Peterborough towards TCH Huntingdon, down to TCH St Neots and then back up to TCH Stamford. On the final day, the team left Stamford for TCH Burton before completing the final stretch to TCH Derby.

On two legs of the journey, TCH Ford team members joined the long distance cyclists, travelling from Huntingdon to St Neots, and the final stretch from Burton to Derby. At the end, there were celebrations, both for the completion of the epic cycle and for William’s 50th birthday.

Following the finish of the event Derek Kilgariff, British Heart Foundation Fundraising Manager in Derby shared his thanks.

“Thank you so much to TC Harrison for adopting the BHF as their charity Partner of the Year.” Derek said. “Their fantastic fundraising efforts will make a real difference to people’s lives. There are over 110,000 people in Derbyshire alone living with heart or circulatory problems, and we applaud companies like TC Harrison who help beat heartbreak forever.”
