It’s the return of the Mach!
Ford has just unveiled that the all-new 480-hp Ford Mustang Mach 1, the pinnacle of mustang 5.0 litre style and performance is coming to America and Canada in 2021. To say that we are a bit jealous of this. Well, it’s an understatement!
It has filled a hole in the ford performance range. Ford has built a Mustang that slots perfectly into the gap between the standard v8 model and the tougher gt350 and gt500 models. Therefore, the Mach 1 provides you with the best of both worlds.
The Mach has taken a step out of the limelight and after 17 years the all-new mustang Mach 1 fastback coupe makes its world premiere in the exclusive exterior colour option, fighter jet grey. "Bold styling, great acceleration, and speed, Mach 1 says it all," said Jim Farley, Ford's chief operating officer.
Let's get down to the nitty-gritty, what can this new pony performance car really do! The Mach 1 comes with a 6-speed manual transmission from the Shelby GT350 as standard but drivers can opt for an available 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with an upgraded torque converter and unique calibration that provides overall enhanced performance on and off the track.
Packing a specially calibrated 5.0-liter V8 engine that has a projected 480 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,600 rpm. With these features combined with the improved cooling and aerodynamics to the front of this vehicle, no wonder it is set to become the most track-capable 5.0 litre mustang to date.
This new performance pony is a fitting celebration of a nameplate born more than 50 years ago. Like we said, it’s the return of the Mach!
