Top 6 Electric Vehicles for Mileage

When browsing showrooms and surfing the web for reviews, new car buyers are typically looking for power, engine size and zero-to-sixty time. However, when shopping for a new electric car, range trumps them all. This desire to find an electric vehicle with the longest range seems to stem from the range anxiety that car buyers suffered when electric vehicles were new to market.

The distance that can now be covered by an EV, should for the most part, put any concerns about a flat battery halfway down the motorway to bed. As the latest generation of electric cars have more than sufficient range to meet most drivers’ daily use with ease; meaning you can charge at home overnight and not have to worry about whether you believe there is enough public infrastructure or not (we believe there is, and this is only going to grow!)

If you are wondering which all-electric models offer the longest range and are available in the UK right now, here’s the top 6:

1. Tesla Model S – 405 miles* (estimate)
Okay, so here’s the thing. The Tesla Model S is only an estimated range of 405 miles as this doesn’t have an official WLTP range rating. In addition, if you were to order one today through the Tesla website, not only do they cost £91,980, they are also estimating delivery of the end of 2022. Which leaves the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the current top dog in our eyes.
2. Ford Mustang Mach-E Extended Range – 379 miles^
Tesla have led the way with long-range supremacy since the dawn of all-electric vehicles. Now, the Ford Mustang Mach-E gives the luxury electric car manufacturer a real run for their money with a 379-mile range in the RWD model with extended range battery.

Coming in at £49,980 it’s not just the electric range that gives the Model S a run for it’s money either! And with a distinctly Mustang design and premium-level features such as Ford SYNC and B&O sound system, it’s not hard to see why the Mach-E has quickly become a market-leader in all-electric vehicles.
3. Tesla Model 3 Long Range – 360 miles
The best-selling model in Tesla’s range is the Model 3, and with the long-range battery drivers can achieve up to 360 miles range. Prices for this model and range start at £48,490 and can achieve a 0-60mph time of just 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 145mph.

The Tesla Model X Long Range also offers 360 miles in range but as this won’t be available in the UK till late 2022 and will cost £98,980 we decided to move onto the next available model…
4. Volkswagen ID.3 Tour – 340 miles
A single electric motor and 77kWh battery pack allows the ID.3 Tour to stand ahead of the rest of the VW range with a 340-mile range. Though it’s apparent the ID.3 has been designed to offer flexibility and an option to suit most budgets and requirements, with the entry level costing just £29,635 (but only delivering a 263 mile range), in comparison to the Tour model with the longest range, which costs £38,815.
5. Polestar 2 Long range Single motor – 335 miles
Sneaking into the top 5 is the Polestar 2 Long range Single electric motor (170kW, 231hp) with a 0-62mph speed in 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 100mph. The 335 miles is just a fraction short of the Volkswagen and a touch more on the Skoda. These vehicles are ready for a short turnaround time according to Polestar’s website and come with an on the road price of £42,900.
6. Skoda Enyaq IV 80 – 331 miles /
Once famous for making a car out of Victoria Sponge, Skoda round off the top 5 with their Enyaq IV 80 model that produces 331 miles of range with a 77kWh battery pack. This all-wheel drive and fashionable SUV style with Skoda practicality provides a solid cost-effective option for those looking to maintain a sizeable passenger and luggage capacity, whilst entering the world of EVs.
