At TC Harrison Ford, we’re proud to present our Green Commitment, which covers our on-site operations and the services we provide. Whether it be helping the environment with our solar panels, or recycling the waste we generate - we’re always looking at new ways we can help and do our bit.
Over half of our TCH Ford sites currently have solar panels installed, and during summer months these dealerships are regularly non-dependant on the National Grid for any electricity we use during weekends. Additionally, the excess electricity we generate that goes beyond our requirements gets transferred back to the grid.
To put this into perspective, on an average day in August our Pride Park site in Derby generated 415kwh of electricity, which is approximately enough to fully charge eight Ford Explorers per day!
We are happy to say that the majority of the lighting in and around our dealerships is LED. This lighting is up to 75% more efficient than standard light bulbs, and can last 25 times longer. We also have light sensors in many rooms across the sites to turn off lighting when the room is not in use. As part of our Green Commitment, we are working to replace any standard light fitments when they fail with LED where possible.
Our heating units are limited to certain temperatures, so that energy usage can be reduced whilst providing a comfortable working environment. Comfort coolers in our showrooms are also set to go off at designated low usage times of the day and are automatically set to shut down fully at the end of the day, in case they are not switched off during close down. They have destratification units which help to ensure a constant comfortable temperature during summer and winter months, again helping to minimise energy usage. Our workshop doors are also fitted with roller shutter switches, meaning if a door is opened for too long, the heating will turn off until the door is closed to conserve energy.
Waste oil is collected by our partners and transferred to licensed facilities in the UK and Ireland, where it undergoes testing in laboratories. The waste oil is then treated and processed into high quality alternative fuels, meeting all IP specification and regulatory requirements.
Waste management systems, processing and separation technology is supporting the recovery and increasing recycling rates of plastic waste. Our partners are at the forefront of these changes, leading in the development of plastic recycling processes and supporting a circular economy.
Once it has been collected it is sorted, shredded, washed, separated before being extruded into specified ABS, PS, and PP polymers. This state-of-art technology, that includes advanced electrostatic separation and optical sorting, produces one of the highest quality recycled plastic compounds in the UK.
Our tyre collection partner is the UK’s largest tyre collector and processor, they collect, process and repurpose post-consumer tyres so that 100% of the tyre is recycled and reused in a variety of products. From artificial turf infill and playground rubber mulch to carpet underlay and road surfaces, no part of the tyre is wasted.
Confidential paperwork categorised for destruction is securely collected and shredded to protect data. 100% of the material is then recycled, and part of this is turned back into the paper we purchase to use again. Our paper is also eco-efficient meaning less wood is consumed to produce it.
All of the TCH Ford team undergo regular training programs, one of which is based around Environmental Awareness. After completing the training, we are able to describe key issues that affect the environment, list ways in which we can improve our company’s environmental performance, describe initiatives to improve these issues, and explain how to manage these in our workplace.
We are required to report our energy use and compliance, in line with SECR and ESOS environmental legislation, to government bodies and in our annual company accounts. We look at this as not just a box ticking exercise, but as a basis to drive our energy efficiency by benchmarking our performance, and actively pursuing energy saving measures. We ensure that our energy bills are regularly reviewed to look for anomalies that may highlight inefficient equipment or processes.
TC Harrison Ford are proud to present a stellar range of fully-electric vehicles in our new car lineup. These include from the premium quality Mustang Mach-E, the highly specified all-electric Ford Explorer, and the bold upcoming all-new, all-electric Ford Capri.
We cover four counties, supporting private and business drivers throughout UK.
