Ford Performance at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

27/06/2024

Ford Performance continues its dominance at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, this time with the all-electric F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. The powerful truck conquered the challenging "America's Mountain" course in a staggering 8:53.553, driven by veteran racer Romain Dumas.

This victory marks Ford's second consecutive speedy performance at Pikes Peak with an electric vehicle demonstrator. In 2023, the SuperVan 4.2 took the second spot, showcasing Ford's commitment to electric vehicle technology and innovation. The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck's win further cements Ford as a leader in the electric truck revolution.

Dumas' incredible skill and the truck's impressive performance combined to achieve this historic feat. The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck wasn't just fast, it was the fastest competitor out of all 61 entries at the 102nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The race wasn’t without its challenges. The Frenchman encountered a technical issue that brought the mighty 1,600-horsepower truck to a complete stop. This unexpected pause added roughly 26 seconds to his potential time, based on qualifying runs.

However, Dumas' quick thinking saved the day. He managed to reset the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, minimising the impact of the issue and allowing him to resume the climb. This display of composure, coupled with the truck's raw power, ultimately led them to victory.
