The exciting new Ford Ranger PHEV has been officially debuted at IAA Transportation in Hanover, Germany.
This week saw the unveiling of the pioneering electrified Ranger, the first of its kind for Ford, after it was initially announced last year.
Running an all-new powertrain, the PHEV model has promised no compromise on reliability and performance when compared with its combustion engine only counterparts. This addition to Ford’s comprehensive electric commercial vehicle lineup will be available in the familiar Ranger Wildtrak and XLT trims, as well as having its own unique to series Stormtrak edition.
“The all-new Ranger PHEV delivers the benefits of electrification hand-in-hand with the hard-working performance that has built Ranger a loyal fanbase in Europe. We have perfected our first PHEV pickup in Europe to be a hugely capable tool for work and off-roading, as well as a premium vehicle with the comfort, connectivity and EV-only capability for family duties,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe.
The Ranger PHEV offers enhanced performance and efficiency. Its regenerative braking system helps recharge the battery, and its increased torque makes towing heavy loads and tackling challenging off-road terrain easier. Ford has fine-tuned the suspension for optimal comfort and handling, considering the PHEV's unique characteristics.
With Ford Pro Home Charging, owners can schedule charging during off-peak hours to save money. The hybrid powertrain is expected to be more fuel-efficient than the traditional V6 diesel engine, which will be beneficial to businesses looking to cut fuelling costs.
Pro Power Onboard technology provides a portable power source, ideal for powering tools and equipment on job sites or campsites. The standard 2.3 kW output can be upgraded to 6.9 kW, offering more outlets and higher power capacity to handle demanding tasks.
Impressively, the Ranger PHEV features the best torque of any in current production, a staggering 690 Nm. Even more impressively, the 279 PS results in more power than a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel Ranger model. The PHEV variant can be fully charged in as little at 4 hours, and will aim to provide an electric-only driving range of 27 miles.
Keep your eyes peeled for new Ford Ranger PHEV in our showrooms in early 2025.
