Ford has unveiled the first ever Ranger Plug-in Hybrid electric vehicle. The revolutionary pickup truck will be available in early 2025 and will effortlessly blend electric driving capability with adventure ready versatility.
“The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will help customers step forward into an electrified future, with more confidence and capability than ever before, while keeping Ranger at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the mid-size pickup truck segment,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro in Europe.
The Ranger PHEV will also have the option for Pro Power Onboard installation. This technology will allow for high grade power tools to be used on-site by plugging them into the power outlets in the cargo bed or the cabin, depending on preference and working demands. This means that any noisy, heavy generators that were used previously can be left at home, making for a more streamlined commute to work.
“Our customers want electrified vehicles that deliver strong performance and affordable cost of ownership without compromising what they love about their truck,” Schep said.
“The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is a best-of-both-worlds solution for work, play, and family – offering customers zero-tailpipe emission EV driving for short trips, or hybrid performance that delivers incredible off-road, payload and towing capabilities. And, with Pro Power Onboard for the first time, Ranger owners can power their work sites and campsites easily.”
There will be four driving modes to choose from with the hybrid Ranger, Auto, EV Now, EV Later and EV Charge – putting the power in driver’s hands to select how to use electric when they drive. The cars combustion engine has the power to charge the electric battery, allowing for greater flexibility whilst driving this advanced vehicle.
The Ford Ranger PHEV makes sure to not compromise on performance with its diesel counterpart. This PHEV model features more torque than any other Ranger, as well as a One Tonne Carrying capacity and a 3.5 Tonne Towing ability.
