Leading on from the previous success of the Ford SuperVans and SuperTruck, Ford has unveiled a Mustang Mach-E NASCAR prototype that will compete at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race.
Few details about the vehicle have been announced, however the impressive prototype is slated to have a tri-motor all-wheel drive design, under a familiar Mustang Mach-E SUV-style body. Ford has also stated the racer will be powered by a 78-kWh liquid cooled battery, and whilst no official output numbers have been released, based on previous prototypes with the same powered battery, this could produce a formidable 1,300 horsepower.
With NASCAR looking to reduce their emissions to zero by 2035, this Mustang Mach-E is likely the first of three EV stock cars to be unveiled this year, with a potential for many more in the future.
This exciting new model has a lot to live up to when it comes to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race, with last year’s effort (the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck) taking home the top prize. The race is set to take place in June, and we would like to wish the Ford Team all the best for the competition!
