Junior TCH Customer Shoots into F4 Top Ten

TC Harrison Ford customer Johnathan Hoggard showed off his TC Harrison sticker with pride as he whizzed into the Top Ten at FIA F4 this weekend.

Hoggard bought a blue Ford Fiesta ST-Line from our TC Harrison Ford Huntingdon dealership a few months ago, and chose to display our logo on his Ford EcoBoost racing car during the first F4 rounds at Brands Hatch.

For those who are wondering what the FIA F4 is, it is the British open-wheel racing car category that is the first step on the FIA single-seater pyramid to the F1. It is a category for junior drivers, including the future stars of F1. Ford has been closely linked to the junior racing title since the original competition, titled ‘Formula Ford’ back in 1967. Over the years, the competition has introduced many of motor racing’s great names.

Today, the category is powered by the race-proven 1.6l EcoBoost engine, which has been specially tuned to reach the FIA’s maximum power of 160PS. The engine is paired with a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, which provides a safe and reliable drive.

The first three rounds that took place between 6th and 8th April 2018 took place at Brand’s Hatch, with the next rounds taking place at Donington Park at the end of April. British junior driver Johnathan Hoggard excelled during the practice, finishing with the fastest lap times throughout the day. During free practice two, he recorded his best time with a superfast lap of 46.175 seconds.

There were three rounds at Brands Hatch this weekend, with Hoggard finishing a comfortable 6th and 5th in the first two rounds. During the third round, an unfortunate off-road moment at clearways cost him a few places, with him finishing just outside the top ten. Overall, he finished at a provisional championship standing of 7th place.

We have loved seeing his progress throughout the first round of F4 heats and look forward to seeing his journey throughout the championship. Best of luck at Donington Park on 28th and 29th April, Johnathan!
