This week, Hoonigan Ken Block announced that he’ll be taking part in the Spanish section of the World Rally Championship (WRC), and that he’ll be doing it in his EcoBoost Ford Fiesta.
The WRC is widely regarded as one of the most challenging motorsport championships in the world. The rally, which takes place on some of the most varied road conditions worldwide, is driven in timed sections that are performed on closed roads. Each driver battles the sections in their production-based cars, with help from their co-drivers who read detailed notes to keep the driver aware of the path ahead. The nail-biting races usually come down to split-second time differences.
Ken Block is co-founder of both DC Shoes and Hoonigan, which is a motorsport lifestyle brand. The term Hoonigan is a combination of the words hooligan and ‘hoon’, which is an Australian term for playing about in cars. As well as merchandise, they produce fun videos where they race, personalise and tune cars.
