All About the New KA+ Range
Last week, we heard the exciting announcement from Ford that there will soon be a new Ford KA+ and, for the first time, a brand new KA+ Active. The affordable, five-door collection will provide greater comfort and convenience, more driver assistance technologies, and enhanced interior and exterior styling.
The SUV-inspired Ford KA+ Active will include raised ride-height, rugged bodystyling, and unique chassis tuning and front grille designs. The KA+ Active will be the second in the Active crossover line-up offered from Ford, following the Fiesta Active that will go on sale later this year. The Active models have SUV styling but still deliver hatchback practicality and fun-to-drive characteristics.
Technology
The new KA+ and KA+ Active will have added technologies for convenience and entertainment. They will include Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system, which allows drivers to control audio and connected smartphones using voice commands, or use the 6.5-inch colour touchscreen. The system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
To enhance your driving experience, available technologies also include rain-sensitive wipers, headlamps that turn on automatically as daylight fades, Ford’s Quickclear heated windscreen, heated front seats, Electronic Automatic Temperature Control and rear parking sensors.
A Choice of Engines
For the first time, the new KA+ and KA+ Active will offer a choice of engines with fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines. Each engine type meets the latest Euro Stage 6 emissions standards and is supported by Auto-Stop-Start technology.
Opt for the new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine or Ford’s 95PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine. All of the new KA+ and KA+ Active powertrains feature Ford’s new low-friction five-speed manual transmission, which delivers improved shift quality, refinement, and fuel-efficiency with additional features such as Teflon-coated internal components, low-friction bearings and a synchronised reverse gear for easier selection.
Designed for Europe
The new KA+ and KA+ Active feature a unique chassis specification that is engineered to meet European driving expectations. They also offer a unique front sub-frame and suspension components including springs, dampers, and rear torsion beam axle that are optimised specifically for Europe’s roads.
